As Canadians we talk about the weather relentlessly, I just talk about it a little more! I hope to provide useful information to my family, friends and all those who simply enjoy talking about the weather. While I try to include information of interest from all over North America, my primary region of concern is the St. Lawrence Valley of Quebec, Ontario, and New York, as well as our neighbouring regions. This Blog is dedicated to my late father for inspiring my interest in weather.

Winter Weather Advisories
The National Weather Service has posted Winter Weather Advisories for New York and Vermont from 7am Monday until midnight . A winter storm watch for lake effect snow is also posted for numerous counties bordering Lakes Huron, Ontario and Erie on both sides of the border. A potent low pressure trough will slide across the region Monday with a general 5 to 15cm of snow and gusty northwest winds over 50km/h expected in Montreal, Ottawa and points south into the northern US. Conditions will start to deteriorate in the afternoon as the snow becomes heavier and winds increase. In addition to the snow and blowing snow region wide, temperatures will begin to drop to lows by early Tuesday morning of -17C. Travel may become difficult from midday Monday through Tuesday morning along area highways. More snow in the order of 20 to 30cm is expected in the snow squall prone areas around the Great Lakes.
